Sourcing

Every place page states why the place belongs in a short paragraph of two to four sentences, and that paragraph cites at least two sources with different web addresses. One source is the business's own website or an official social page the business runs. The other is a press or civic source, such as the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, OnMilwaukee, Milwaukee Magazine, Shepherd Express, Urban Milwaukee, Milwaukee Record, Milwaukee County Parks, state business records or a neighborhood association.

Public parks and other public spaces count as locally owned under the inclusion rule, and their ownership note names the public owner, for example "Milwaukee County Parks".

A first-party fact is a fact Little Milwaukee checked itself on a stated date, from the business's own website or social pages, from a phone call to the business or from a visit. Facts copied from a directory or a press article are sourced facts, not first-party ones. Each first-party fact on a page shows the date it was checked and how. Hours, prices and menus are first-party facts; a page lists hours only for the days Little Milwaukee checked.

Judge review

An agent may draft a page. Draft pages are published with a visible "Draft. Not yet reviewed." notice and are not indexed by search engines. A judge agent reviews every agent-written page against the inclusion rule and this policy before the page moves from draft to stable. A page the judge rejects stays in draft. Borderline inclusion cases go to Tyler with their sources attached, and he decides them. A page never goes live with a placeholder, an unsourced why-line or a photo without a credit.

Corrections

To report an error, email hello@littlemilwaukee.com with the page address and the correction. The website checks the report against the business's own channels or a phone call and fixes the page when the report is right.

Photos

The website uses only photos it took itself, photos under a license that allows the use, and photos the owner gave permission to use. Every photo shows its credit. The website does not copy photos from other websites, review apps or social media accounts without permission. A page may go live without a photo.
